Dear Families
Welcome to Term 4!
Father's Group
As a follow up to our Father's Day celebrations, Dr Chris Laming is going to run a Father's Group in the Parish Centre on Wednesday Nov 20th 5.30pm to 6.30. Gold Coin donation to cover the hot drinks. It's going to be called 'A Dad's Workshop' and you are welcome to bring a mate. The idea is to support Dad's in their very important role in our families. This workshop is open to all Dads in our community, not just school Dads.
First Holy Communion
This year we have ten students preparing for the Sacrament of Eucharist (First Holy Communion). We pray that this will be a special time of preparation for these families. Everyone is welcome to join us at the parish celebration on Saturday October 26th at St Jarlath's Church, Yarragon. We pray especially for Charlotte Jamieson, Conrad Edwards, Eleanor Steendam, Joan Mary, Lachie Baldassa, Pippa Dilger, Sienna Jamieson, Zara Boyle and Zeke Garratt.
State Athletic Champions
At the Regional Athletic Interschool Sports at The Joe Carmody Track in Newborough on Tuesday, both Tahlia and Olivia Pedemont came first place in their respective events, that is, Tahlia came first in hurdles and Olivia came first in Shot Put. Both girls will represent our school at the State School Athletic Sports in Melbourne. It has been a very long time (we think over 17 years) since we have had any students participate in athletics at the State level, so a very big CONGRATULATIONS to Tahlia and Olivia! We are very proud of you both.
Welcome
We warmly welcome Janelle Harte to our school staff, she will be working in our office. Janelle is Jack and Charlie's (Gr 4) mum. Janelle is very excited to work at our school. Fun facts about Janelle: she has 32 pets and she likes cheese better than chocolate.
Storytime
On Wednesdays we run Storytime for toddlers and parents. 9.15 to 9.45am. We have four more Storytime sessions this year. So if you haven't had the opportunity to come along, now is a good time to start.
Day For Daniel
Day for Daniel is a National Day of Action hosted by the Daniel Morcombe Foundation (DMF) to raise awareness of child safety, protection and harm prevention. Held on the last Friday of October each year, it is about educating children and adults about keeping kids safe through child safety and protection initiatives. We are all encouraged to wear red on this day.
Remember next Friday Oct 25th we have an assembly at 3pm. The Gr 5/6 students will be presenting their learning. We hope you can join us.
May God continue to bless us in our learning.

This Friday the Gr 4/5 class are celebrating a Teaching Mass with Fr Bernard at 10am. Everyone is welcome.
The F/1 class are celebrating their Teaching Mass on Friday October 25th at 10am. Please feel especially welcome to come along and learn about the Mass.
On Thursday November 7th we will be hosting a 'Learning Expo' at school (please note the change of date). Each student will have a number of pieces of quality work on display. The Learning Expo will start at 2pm for the school classes to walk around and view each other's work. Families are invited to visit the school from 3.30 to 6pm and walk through our classrooms viewing the student's quality work. Our art work, music work and Japanese learning will be highlighted. The tiles that the students have painted in art classes, will also be unveiled each hour for viewing. We think this is a wonderful way to invite our families into the school and to showcase our work. We hope your family can join us sometime.
At St Joseph's our Camping Program is sequential and engaging.

In week 9 we will run our 5 day swimming program from Monday December 2nd through to Friday December 6th. The students will travel by bus to Warragul Leisure Centre each day to participate in a 45 minute swimming lesson by trained swimming teachers. This is an important part of the curriculum and it is expected that all students will participate. Please access the information note and the permission on PAM. Your child is encouraged to either wear their bathers to school under their uniform or bring their bathers (this is a good option if your child has a one piece suit) in a smaller bag to take swimming. We are looking for parent helpers, especially in the junior classes. All helpers must have a current Working with Children's Check. Please see the attached timetable. If you are able to help please let your classroom teacher know.
