Dear Families
Last week we finished the week by honouring our Mums with a special treat on Thursday. We had Samantha Bingham from Warragul run a wholeness session for our Mums in room 2. We set the room up in a relaxed and comfortable way. The Mums enjoyed a quiet and calming retreat time, followed by afternoon tea. Then we finished the afternoon with a gratefulness prayer session in our church. We love and honour our Mums! Thank you Mums for all that you do for us.
Haha no hi omedetou. Happy Mother's Day.
Pentecost
This week in our church we celebrate Pentecost Sunday, this is when Jesus sent his Holy Spirit to his disciples to strengthen them and send them out to spread his word.
The disciples had been sad, lonely and frightened. The disciples were filled with joy, peace and courage to go out and spread the word of God.
The Holy Spirit that came upon the disciples on the day of Pentecost is the same Spirit that is within each one of us from the moment of our baptism. It enables us to listen to the Word of God; to see goodness all around us, in each other and in the world; to do good works – what will the Holy Spirit guide you to do this week?
Come Holy Spirit
And fill our hearts with your love.
Work through us to bring Jesus
To those who do not know him,
So that we may share this love with others. Amen.
Division School Athletics
A few weeks ago we had three students who represented our school in the Division School Athletics Event. Congratulations to Tahlia Pedemont who came first in the hurdles and third in the high jump; and her sister Olivia Pedemont, who came first in the shot put and congratulations also to Josh Plozza who represented us in the long jump. We are very proud of your efforts. Both Tahlia and Olivia will go on to the Regional School Athletics program. Good luck!

Next week we celebrate Catholic Education Week. Here is a short video message from our Director Mr Paul Velten:
Our schools have put together a short video on why we love our schools. You will recognise some of our students with Oakley our therapy dog, see if you can spot them.
This term, students have been continuing their learning on child safety, learning to recognise, react to and report unsafe or risky situations to help keep themselves safe.
The Protective Behaviours program is based on two themes:
- We all have the right to feel safe and be safe at all times
- We can talk with a safe adult about anything, no matter what it is
Topics covered include:
- What is safety?
- Safe and unsafe touch
- Private body parts
- Body boundaries and consent
- Safe and unsafe secrets
- Creating a safety network or team of safe adults who we can go to for help
By learning about protective behaviours, your child will be developing lifelong skills of assertiveness, self-confidence, problem solving, communication, resilience and help seeking.
Students have also watched the Term 2 Inform and Empower webinar for Cyber Safety.
This term’s focus being ‘We balance our screen time with green time’. We have been discussing reasons why we need to have screen free time, keeping devices out of bedrooms and finishing up our screen time an hour before bed to help ensure a good nights’ sleep.
In this edition of SchoolTV - INTERNET ADDICTION
In today’s digital environment, the internet can be viewed as a valuable tool for education, research and entertainment. Young people today tend to go from one screen to another, but how much is too much? Time spent in the ‘screen world’ has parents concerned that their kids may be missing out on real life experiences. Therefore, it is vitally important to a child’s wellbeing for parents to regulate a child’s internet use.
Internet addiction can cause significant psychological and social problems for children in years to come. The true effects on future generations is not yet known, but there are strategies that parents can implement now.
In this edition, Dr Michael Carr-Gregg discusses what causes internet addiction, who is most at risk and what parents can do to regulate the amount of time their kids spend online each day.
We hope you take time to reflect on the information offered in this edition of SchoolTV and we always welcome your feedback. If you have any concerns about your child, please contact the school counsellor for further information or seek medical or professional help.

Pie Drive
We are running a Pie Drive this term through Yarragon Bakery. Families will be able to choose from a large variety of sweet and savoury pies in either family or individual size.
Order forms will be sent home with students soon. Please use these forms to help you with your order, especially if you have extended family members interested in purchasing some pies. We ask families to please place their total order on CDF pay.
Orders are due by the 13th of June.
Pies will be delivered to school on Thursday the 20th of June.
Lunch orders
We are offering a weekly lunch order each Thursday through K Lee’s kitchen at the Willow Grove general store.
Students can choose from a large box for $11 or a small box for $10. Both include fruit, vegetables, cheese and crackers, a choice of sandwiches and a choice of either a muffin or yogurt.
We have had some difficulties with CDF pay over the last two weeks and have been taking orders at the office instead. Hopefully this will be fixed soon. Updates will be posted on the green school page.
Please place orders by 1pm each Wednesday and a lunch order will be delivered on Thursday.
Halloween Disco
We will be running a Halloween themed Disco on Thursday the 27th of June from 5pm to 7pm at school. It was a great night last year and we are looking forward to the fun again this year! There will be more details as it gets closer!
