Today is Remembrance Day. I walked with our student leaders, Jason, Cohen and Erin, to the Trafalgar cenotaph and participated in our local RSL service. We laid a wreath on behalf of our school.
Remembrance Day Prayer
Let us turn to You, Lord, in our grief and in our remembrance of the fallen. Guide us toward a harmonious existence as we honor those who were willing to give up their lives that we may gather here today freely. On this Memorial Day, we pray for peace and for those who gave all.
Recently, Taryn and I have been engaging in professional learning around NAPLAN results. One of the things that became clear to us in looking at out 5 years trend data was that there has been no significant effect after remote learning. That is to say that our students have fared well through remote learning. So, congratulation to parents and teachers for supporting our students through remote learning. We all did a great job.
May God continue to bless and guide us in our learning.

Kids are healthier and happier when they’re active every day. Walking to school is a great opportunity to help kids get regular physical activity by walking, riding, scooting or skating to school in the morning and home in the afternoon. This helps kids get regular physical activity, and build their confidence and life skills. It’s also a great way to connect with family and friends. And moving those daily commutes from the roads to the footpath can help make school streets safer, reduce traffic congestion, and contribute to a healthier environment. We are encouraging all families to get involved with Walk to School in the month of November and to share it with your community using the hashtag #WalktoSchoolBawBaw. Teachers will record the students who have walked to school each day for the chance of winning an Intersport Voucher for the school. Get ready, Get set and Go. Encourage our school children to be a part of Walk to School 2021. Please see attached activity to complete with your child/ren on your way to school.
The Victorian Chief Health Officer has expanded the mandatory use of face masks indoors to limit the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) within the population of school settings to include primary schools. The use of face masks assists in providing an additional physical barrier between people and to help reduce community transmission of COVID-19 across all of Victoria.
Students in Grades 3 to 6 at St Joseph’s School will be required to wear a face mask when indoors on school premises, unless a lawful exception applies. There are a number of lawful reasons for not wearing a face mask, including for staff and students who are unable to wear a face mask due to the nature of their disability, medical or mental health.
At this time, there will be no requirement for students to wear a face mask whilst outdoors during school time.
Whilst not required, it is strongly recommended by the Victorian Chief Health Officer that students in Foundation to Grade 2 wear a face mask indoors at school.
Parents, guardians and carers are required to supply their child(ren) with an appropriate face mask that covers the nose and mouth. Thank you for your cooperation in this area.
Our concert has had to be rescheduled. The new date is Wednesday December 1st 6pm at school. Family tickets are $10. Upon entry people will need to show evidence of vaccination status. Only people who are fully vaccinated can come onsite.

We pray especially for Liza, Ayla and Justyce, as they prepare for this significant celebration. May this celebration continue to strengthen you on your life journey.
On Monday 13th December the Grade 5/6 students will participate in a Fun Day whereby the students will travel by bus to the Morwell cinema to watch a movie. Students will then return to school to share a special lunch before walking to the Trafalgar Outdoor Pool. At night, the Grade 6 students will celebrate their Graduation at the Trafalgar Bowling Club starting at 6:00pm. More details will be sent home in a letter soon.
Parents if your child is arriving at school after 9am you need to walk he/she into school and then sign him/her in. Our records need to reflect this.

This year our Committee consisted of Katie Balfour, Imelda Cathomen, Dan Towb, Ashley Treyvaud, Marja Jamieson, Vanessa Donaldson and myself. Unfortunately, Vanessa needs to step down from her position. We thank Vanessa for her work on this Committee. This means there is a position available on this Committee for 2022. If you are interested in this important role in our school, you are welcome to nominate yourself. If you would like to nominate someone else, then please check with them first, and if they are agreeable, then please nominate them.
