Dear families
We had the best St Joseph's Day ever yesterday on Wednesday March 19th. We had a special lunch provided by our P&F and we had a fun activity day. Jordyn from Kinect2Dance visited our school and ran five class dance workshops. Later in the day, we gathered in the Mary MacKillop Room for a prayer service celebrating St Joseph and then each class performed their dance. Wow! It was fantastic! The dances were great and the students really concentrated to perform their best. It was a great presentation and we all had a great day. Happy St Joseph's Day!
New School Leaders
Our new Gr 6 Student Leaders are Owen Yeats and Harry Westbury. Congratulations! We look forward to your leadership.
We strongly encourage students NOT to bring these devices to school. If you think your child needs a phone, it is to be kept in their bag all day as it is not to be used at school. If your child is playing with the device, the device will be put in the teacher's drawer and your child needs to remember to get it before they go home (it is your child's responsibility to remember to take their device home).
Student smartwatches are ONLY to be used for telling the time during school hours. Smartwatches must have ‘school mode’ enabled which limits the smartwatch to telling the time with no other functionality. Student smartwatches that are not able to be restricted to telling the time only, with no other functionality, must be handed to the teacher at the beginning of the school day and collected at the end of the school day. It is my opinion that primary school students do not need a smart watch, it is much better to teach them to tell the time using an analogue clock.
The School Savings Bonus is a State Government initiative designed to assist
families with cost-of-living pressures. Under this funding, each eligible student is
entitled to a $400 bonus for application towards activity levies and uniform purchases
from approved supplier. Within our school, all CSEF applicants are eligible to receive
this funding. All families who have a Centrelink Health Care Card and have not
applied for CSEF in the past are encouraged to contact the school office and initiate
an application this year. Please refer to the below link for more information:

We have the best P&F at school. At the end of last year, our P&F paid the school $20,000 for our junior playground and they also gave the school $28,000 for new classroom furniture. We have decked out the F/1 and Gr 1/2 classrooms. The students love the furniture. Thank you parents for supporting us so much. We really appreciate your help.

School Fee Statements were sent to families today.
Please remember that if you are an eligible Centrelink Card Holder with your child's
name on the card you may be eligible for CSEF and or the 2025 School Bonus.
If you would like to set up a payment plan or if you have any queries please feel free
to contact Janelle via - office@trafalgar.catholic.edu.au OR 03 5633 1151.
Thank you & kind regards, Janelle Harte.

Mental Health in Primary Schools (M.H.i.P.S.) Program
Our team are continuing to work in this space. We have put a suggestion letterbox near the front door of the school, so you too can contribute to the work and ideas in mental health.
We are gathering data about our present situation and are asking parents to please complete a short 15 min survey about your children's mental health. We ask that you complete the survey for each of your children. Here's the link:

SPECIAL REPORT: Celebrating Harmony Week
Australia's multicultural background has been shaped by migration since 1945, which at times has culminated into situations that have been challenging and sometimes leading to conflict due to a lack of understanding. Harmony Week reminds us to appreciate everyone, regardless of their background or circumstances.
Families can join in the celebrations of Harmony Week, and view it as an opportunity to join in the activities that unite cultures demonstrating that everyone belongs. There is no set way to celebrate the week, but participating in international food fairs, attending street parades, wearing orange or even just having a meaningful conversation, can all help show your support.

Installation of CCTV system at school
St Joseph’s Primary School, Trafalgar has a closed-circuit television (CCTV) system on the premises.
St Joseph’s Primary School has an obligation to ensure the environment is safe and secure, and fulfil our duty of care to all persons, students, staff and visitors. The CCTV system assists St Joseph’s Primary School in fulfilling these obligations and provides enhanced capability to protect the premises against vandalism and theft.
The CCTV Privacy Notice below, outlines how we can use the CCTV system, where the cameras are located and the process to access the footage. This Privacy Notice together with DOSCEL's (Diocese of Sale Catholic Education Ltd) CCTV Policy can be found on our school's website www.trafalgar.catholic.edu.au
