Dear Families,
A Prayer for Learning
Loving God,
Thank you for our teachers and the wonderful learning experiences they give us each day.
Thank you for our friends – help us to be kind and caring towards them.
Thank you for our families – help us to be loving and cooperative family people.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
Lions Club Public Speaking Success
We have had an exciting time of learning and celebration at our school. Last week, 13 of our senior students proudly took part in the Lions Club Public Speaking Competition. We were so impressed with their confidence and preparation – they were all winners in our eyes!
The event was organised by Pat Tatterson from the Lions Club, with judging provided by Johanna from the Lions Club and former staff members, Glenda Mynard and Lucy O’Connel.
We were delighted to celebrate the achievements of William Finken, who placed first in the Grade 3/4 section, and Zarah Boyle, who placed first in the Grade 5/6 section. Both students then went on to compete in the local schools’ final – and once again, both won their age groups!
This was a very proud moment for William, Zarah, their families, and our school community. We now wish them every success as they move on to the district final.
On Wed Aug 27 our Gr 5 & 6 students will travel to Marist Sion College in Warragul to participate in a sports day with senior students from St Angela's Warragul, St Joseph's Warragul, St Ita's Drouin and Columba Catholic Primary School in Bunyip. We have been practising in our teams.
Families are welcome to come and support us on the day.
Parent / Teacher / Student Interviews
On Fri Aug 29th we will be conducting Parent/Teacher/Student Interviews during the day. This is an opportunity for you to talk about your child's learning at school with their teacher. Can you please go on to PAM and organise your child's interview time.
Mini Vinnies Fundraiser
On Friday August 8th, our Mini Vinnies team ran two successful fundraising events — a casual clothes day and a sausage sizzle. Thanks to the generosity of our school community, we raised $500, donating $250 to the Mary MacKillop Foundation and $250 to the Opening the Doors Foundation, which supports First Nations students in Catholic education. We also gathered in our church to celebrate the feast day of St Mary of the Cross MacKillop, honouring Australia’s first saint.
Assemblies
We meet every Monday afternoon at 3.15pm to sing our National Anthem and give out our awards and Birthday certificates. Additionally, twice a term on a Friday afternoon our classes present their learning at Special Assemblies. This term, F/1 class are presenting their Assembly on Friday September 12th at 3pm in the Mary MacKillop Room. Everyone is welcome!
Mini Vinnies Talent Show
This year's Talent Show is on today. We are all eagerly awaiting the performances.
May God continue to bless and guide us in our learning.
